Update - The COSMOS Companion
As the COSMOS Companion program enters its second series of topics for COSMOS users, I wanted to update everyone on some important info, mostly gleaned from a survey of attendees done in July 2006.
The program has completed 11 webcasts and provided educational material on topics such as material properties, connectors, and contact modeling. Some data from the survey:
- 95% of attendees are current COSMOS customers
- As a result of this program:
– 95% of the respondents felt they use FEA more successfully
– Over ½ feel they use design analysis more often
– The frequency of use of COSMOS Companion participants is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the general user base…even the participants who didn’t think they used it more often!
– 95% of non-users have tried or plan to try design analysis
- Most requested improvements to program
– Audio thru Computer Spkrs - Done
– More live content in the webcasts – Done
– Offer downloadable videos in WMF or AVI – Working on this one
– Provide more frequent reminders – Done thru SolidWorks Discussion Forum

§ Subscribe to the COSMOS Companion thread in the News section (First section) by clicking on the Eyeglass symbol
§ You’ll get an e-mail reminder every Tuesday afternoon
– Reduce registration overhead – Working on this thru the new Customer Portal. Estimated switch in November 2006
- Congratulations to the Survey Drawing winners: Bob Gray; Autoliv Corp. and Huy Nguyen; Vanoil Equipment
This program has been very rewarding for me to be involved in and I appreciate all the great feedback from attendees. If you haven’t checked out The COSMOS Companion, log onto the home page and sign up for the upcoming webcast, “Tips & Tricks for Loads & Restraints” on August 2, 2006 at:
