Lenny,
My name is Dennis Parr. I am the CAD Administrator for ACRO Automation here in Milwaukee. We down loaded your AssemblyBOM macro and it has saved us a ton of time getting part quantities and releasing parts before the assembly is released, etc. The macro works great! It works so well that we are thinking of implementing it as a way to get BOM data directly from our SolidWorks assemblies into our ERP/MRP system.
We did notice a couple of things I was wondering if there is a way to get them fixed.
(1) Parts in an assembly that have the "Exclude from BOM" option on are still counted in the BOM generated by the macro. Is there a line of code I can add to the macro to get it to treat these parts the same as if though they were suppressed?
(2) In the .ini file I added the [PROPERTY NAMES] for RELEASE DATE and MATERIAL. The release date is a manual input property (user specifies the release date in the file properties of the model for that custom property). The material property in our custom properties in the system variable for material ("SW-Material@Part1.SLDPRT"). Problem is it shows as "SW-Material@Part1.SLDPRT" instead of giving the "evaluated" value of this property (example ALUMINUM). Is there some other way I should assign this value or a line of code for retrieving the information correctly?
I have not done a lot of VB programming, have done some UNIX & VMS script writing so I am not lost when looking at code. If you could point me in the right direction I may be able to muttle my through it. If you could add these enhancements to the macro and required a fee for this service I will see what I can do here. I know your macros are on an "as is" basis, and understand that time is money and no one is in the business of providing a service for free.
Your assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Dennis F. Parr
